To accommodate a significant Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) bridge replacement project planned on Weyman Road, Columbia Gas and its contractor, NPL Construction Company, are relocating an underground pipeline from Weyman Road to Provost Road in Whitehall Borough, Allegheny County, requiring the full closure of Provost Road between the intersection of Weyman Road south to the Fairhaven Beneficial Society.

The road closure will be effective beginning at 7 p.m. on Nov. 17, 2022, until the end of the year, weather permitting. The road closure is required to ensure safe travel by motorists around the work zone and to enhance safety and efficiency for work crews to complete required pipeline relocation work on Provost Road.

A posted detour will direct motorists to follow Saw Mill Run Boulevard (Route 51), Greenlee Road, and Frank Street. The full-time road closure is planned to conclude by the end of 2022 (weather permitting). Residents and businesses within the closure area, as well as emergency responders, will continue to have access to the closed section of road at all times.

Motorists traveling through or near the Columbia Gas work zone should exercise extreme caution and be prepared for slowed or temporarily stopped traffic. Motorists should keep a safe distance between vehicles, reduce speed in work zones, and obey  flaggers and all posted signs, including detours and parking restrictions.

The patience and cooperation of residents and motorists is appreciated during this important project to maintain safe and reliable natural gas service to homes and businesses in the community.
